Large container ship blocks Egypt’s Suez Canal

24. maaliskuuta

On Tuesday a large container ship ran aground in the Suez Canal, one of the world’s most important and trafficked trade routes, after a gust of wind blew it off course. The vessel is currently blocking the waterway causing congestion. Excavation trucks and tugboats have been deployed to help re-float the vessel.

However, according to individuals familiar with the case, the canal may be blocked for days, disrupting the global supply chains. Delays must therefore be expected.

In an attempt to divert some of the traffic and avoid an even larger build-up of vessels waiting in line, the Canal Authority has re-opened an older channel.

We are doing everything we can to handle all shipments as quickly and seamlessly as possible and will do our utmost to make sure that this incident will not affect your business.
